Powerbackplane 3 U/6 U variant L1 P47 connector
The backplanes have been designed for all CompactPCI power supply units that conform to the PICMG 2.11 Power Interface Specification and are equipped with the P47 power connector.
The backplanes are intended for mounting in a 19“ card rack with 3 U or 6 U. They can be installed directly on the card rack mounting channel.
Their installation width is 8 HP. Contiguous backplane placement in the 8 HP slot spacing is possible.
Cascading and HOT-SWAP operation have been implemented.
Hartmann backplanes are completely operable as delivered. No changes need to be made or settings to be changed by the user in the majority of cases.
Caution:
Once input power is connected, hazardous voltages may be present on the backplane.
Please observe the applicable national and international standards for handling hazardous voltages when connecting such voltages to the backplane.
On 3 U Powerbackplane:
Covers AB1 and AB2 must then not be removed. They prevent accidental contact in case of intervention by trained, qualified personnel.
Power supply connections
Two M3 screw-type terminals arranged with a spacing of 10.16 mm (.4“) are available to connect the main operating voltages of +5 V, +3.3 V and GND.
Either a cable lug or a terminal bar can be mounted on these connections. Cascaded backplanes come with a terminal bar mounted on these screw-type terminals.
Terminal bars in different lengths for loads of up to 200 A per bar are available. Please inquire.
The +12 V and –12 V auxiliary voltages are connected via M3 screwtype terminals.
Frame Ground connection X10
There is a solid electrically conductive frame GND surface in the bus boardto-card rack mounting area. An M3 screw-type terminal is used to connect the frame ground.
In smaller systems, this connection can be chosen as a star point for frame ground. Pin 1 of X0 is then also connected to the frame GND surface.
In larger systems, a suitable star point position must be located for the frame ground connection.
A capacitor (C1, C2) next to the mounting holes in each slot is standard equipment. These capacitors provide HF-coupling of CHA-GND with LOGIC-GND. A 1 MΩ resistor discharges the capacitors and electrostatic currents.
This guarantees EMC-tight mounting of the bus board on the card rack.
Current Share connectors X16 and X17
Current Share signals may be used between multiple power supplies for load balancing. These signals are not required for single power supply systems

Because implementation and timing for V1 SHARE, V2 SHARE, and V3 SHARE may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, interoperability between two or more power supplies from different manufacturers is not guaranteed.
Jumpers
Jumper J1 connects the EN-signal (X1-27), which is connected to PS-ON (X12-14), to GND. This permits the power supply unit to be started up automatically.
If this is not desirable, jumper J1 is to be removed, and the power supply unit is to be started using external wiring.
You can either remove J1 yourself or order backplanes with the corresponding order number.
The FAL- signal of X1 is connected to FAL- of X11 und X13 via jumper J2.
Pin 8 of X12 is connected to DEG- via jumper J3.
+12 V sense is directly connected to
+12 V on the power backplane via jumper J4.
Test points
Since INH‑ is not used, pin 39 of X1 is only connected to test point TP1.
Since PRST- does not exist on connector X1, PRST- has only been run to test point TP2 on X11 and X13.
Further wiring can be implemented from there.
Since +5 V STDBY of X12 is not used, pin 9 of X12 is only connected to test point TP3.
Since -5 V of X12 is not used, pin 18 of X12 is only connected to test point TP4
Shelf enumeration switch SW1
DIP switch SW1 allows each backplane in the system to be assigned a unique logical address. Configure switches GA0-GA3 to set a unique address.
Power supply units that support the System Management Bus can pass on this information.
Set switches 1 to 3 to select the desired address.
The address set in this manner is available to the power supply unit for further evaluation. The geographic localization of equivalent components implemented by this is of great importance particularly for redundant systems in conjunction with HOT-SWAP operation.
